His sons used to take turns holding feasts in their homes, and they would invite their three sisters to eat and drink with them. When a period of feasting had run its course, Job would send and have them purified. Early in the morning, he would sacrifice a burnt offering for each of them thinking, "Perhaps my children have sinned and cursed God in their hearts." This was Job’s regular custom.

• Job performed sacrifices for his children. He probably lived during the days of the patriarchs (Abraham, Isaac, Jacob) before God appointed priests to perform sacrifices for the people.
• Since Job was "blameless and upright" would he make sacrifices outside of the Lord’s law? Of course not!
• Job prepared his children before sacrifices.
• Job lived such an exemplary life he made sacrifices for possible sins – AND THIS WAS HIS REGULAR CUSTOM!

• The key issue of all of Job is "Why do we worship God?????"
• Do we worship God out of genuine love or primarily for his blessing?
• Do we "purify" ourselves before making our daily sacrifice of prayer to our Father?
• Is the family the center for spiritual development?
• through bible study, family devotions, dinner conversation, moral discipline, and spiritual counsel?
