Opening Prayer
Holy Spirit of God, lead us into the mystery of waiting. We trust that you will be able to bring meaning out of all apparent chaos and something of value out of all our pain.
Reading 1
2 Corinthians 1:3-4 - Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.
Response Song
Reading 2
Romans 5:3-5 - Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.
Reflection
Dear God, how long, how long must we wait before there will be an end to our agonies?
Response - You are our rock and our stronghold. With you all thing are possible
The burden is heavy labor indeed, just to wait.
For those of us who wait, that we may have patience.
For those of us who wait, that we may have endurance.
For those of us who wait, that we may have strength.
For those of us who wait, that we may have courage.
For those of us who wait, that we may have faith.
For those of us who wait, that we may have hope.
For those of us who wait, that we may have love.
For those of us who wait, that we may have healing.
Response - You are our rock and our stronghold. With you all thing are possible
We can only pour our miseries into the chalice wordlessly joining in the pain and sorrow of the entire world knowing only that at least we are not alone, we have each other, and we always have you Lord.
Response - You are our rock and our stronghold. With you all thing are possible
With your help gracious God we can endure this together and even with hope in our hearts for the clock is ticking and time is on our side and we have your promise that ultimately our hope is not in vain. Jesus endured the role of suffering servant and He now lives in glory.
Response - You are our rock and our stronghold. With you all thing are possible

Prayer
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name,
thy kingdom come, thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil
Closing Prayer
May the God whom we have believed, bless us with patience and love, and with the perseverance to wait until God's good time has arrived.
