My sister, Jenny Doyle Walker, is 31 years old and is the most beautiful girl in the world !

On Thursday, December 7, 2000, she collapsed at her home after being extremely sick. Her husband, Chris Walker, called an ambulance and she was rushed to the St. Vincent's hospital Emergency Room. No one knew what the problem was ! The ER staff considered a stomach virus, migraines, kidney and pancreas problems, diabetes and other causes. In the Emergency Room the next day, she had a heart attack and immediately the focus turned to her heart. The diagnosis was that her left heart was working at only 10% capacity and that an immediate operation was necessary or she would not make it through the night ! The problem was her heart was not pumping enough blood through her body to sustain life and her organs were beginning to shut down. On Friday, December 8, 2000, an operation to install a "HeartMate" was performed and she is now recovering from the major surgery that has taken place. At that time and until March 2, 2001, our plan was for her to hopefully have no complications with the "HeartMate" and that she be qualified to receive a new heart when one became available. This was our most urgent prayer to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Tests on Jenny's heart in March 2001 indicated that her heart was miraculously pumping on its own ! Since the HeartMate was performing the job of the heart since December 8, 2000, her heart apparently had the opportunity to heal itself........ Tests continued until Jenny was admitted to the hospital for further testing on April 11, 2001. Further tests included turning down the HeartMate for a whole week ! The purpose of this is to see if Jenny' heart can function on its own for an extended time. During the week long hospital stay, Jenny's heart will be taken through "stress tests" to determine if it can hold up on its own.......As a result, our prayers have changed - - - - we are now praying for a 100% recovery of her heart and there to be no need for a HeartMate, donor heart or - - -- anything else......... We pray Jenny never has heart problems again in this life !!!

In April 2001, the miracle continued - - - the HeartMate was successfully removed from Jenny's body and she is now recovering in the hospital !!!!!

On April 25, 2001 - Jenny came home - - with her own original heart operating on its own !!!
